Rachel grew up in Western Massachusetts where she never learned to ski. She did, however, fall in love with theater, creative writing, music, running, soccer and fleeing wintertime weather. Rachel studied history at Harvard as an undergrad, and has worked on the other side of the admissions table, reading applications for undergrad admissions at both small colleges and large universities.
She first fell into teaching as an undergrad and began a teaching practice championing the writing and verbal skills she adores while also providing support for students who might not fall quite so easily in love with math and science. Her primary love is helping students create organizational systems and study plans that work for them (one of her students called it “Executive Function for the Dysfunctional” and “Organization for the Disorganized.”) As a (slightly) reformed procrastinator, she works to find a system that works for each student individually. She has worked with hundreds of students over 13 years of teaching in NYC.
When not teaching, Rachel works in theater, musical theater and TV as an actor and director. She plays a doctor (the closest she’ll ever get to med school) on the TV series “Dr. Death” (spooky title, great show) and a teacher (type casting) on the Amazon show “WeCrashed.” She has run three marathons (including the NYC and the Boston) but prefers shorter runs these days.
